Cork
Cork is home. I've lived in Ballingeary in West Cork for years now, and I photograph this coastline in all its moods, from flat winter calms to full Atlantic storms. My Cork photography covers a long stretch of coast, from the Old Head of Kinsale and Nohoval Cove in the east, out past Galley Head and Baltimore, to Mizen Head and the Beara Peninsula in the west. I know these places the way you know your own kitchen. The light at different times of year, the tides, the angles.
Some of my favourite Cork landscape photography has come from subjects I return to again and again. Fastnet lighthouse off Cape Clear, the dramatic sea stack of Bull Rock, the quiet harbour at Schull, Barley Cove on a rare still evening. Bantry Bay and Glengarriff have a completely different character to the exposed Wild Atlantic Way Cork coast further south, and I love that contrast.
I'm fortunate to have all of this on my doorstep. Every print here is one I keep coming back to.
