Muckross House is one of the jewels of the Killarney area. A stately home that is now open to the public, I wanted to capture it a little differently.
This was a beautiful clear Autumn night and the stars were shining brightly. I had the place to myself. The constellation of Aquarius can be seen just above the house.

The Rock of Cashel is one of the finest examples of medieval architecture to be found in Ireland. Set on a limestone outcrop, it was originally the seat of the high kings of Munster, and was donated to the Church in the 12th century. The scaffolding visible in the photograph is from a long-term conservation project to protect and preserve the elaborate wall paintings in Cormac's Chapel. It has been present since 2009.

Ross Castle is one of Killarney's most popular tourist attractions. Probably built around the 15th century, it was restored in 1979 and is open to the public.
Seen here from Rien Pier by the Workmen's Rowing Club boathouse on a fine summer's morning, it's easy to see why it's such a popular place to visit.

Muckross House is one of Killarney's most popular visitor attractions. Completed in 1843 by the Herbert family, it saw extensive works leading up to the 1861 visit of Queen Victoria. In fact, it's believed that the family's later financial insolvency was caused by the massive outlay required to prepare for her visit.
It's now owned by the state and forms a principal feature of the Killarney National park. Photographed here on a fine Summer's evening, the architecture of the house can be appreciated against its manicured surroundings.

Carrigaphooca Castle (Caisleán Carraig a' Phúca - The Castle of the Fairy Rock) is a magnificent 15th century tower house on the banks of the Sullane River near Macroom. The castle is reportedly haunted and is a frequent stop for ghost hunters.
Photographed here on a frosty winter's morning, the rising sun illuminates the castle's east wall. No sign of the pooka was in evidence this morning! Or perhaps it was in a good mood and allowed me this great light.

Dunluce Castle is one of Ireland's most picturesque. Photographed here from the boulder beach just to the east, it forms an imposing sight.
