Description:
After an early morning walk along the Great South Wall (also known as the South Bull Wall), I was returning to my car when I noticed this gray heron fly over and land in a tidal pool nearby. I watched for a while as he stalked the small fish living there before I set up the camera with a long lens on the tripod. Thankfully, the heron wasn't too shy and stayed around long enough for me to get several photographs.
I particularly like this one. The glassy-calm surface of the pool, the warm early morning light on the heron and the slightly rippled reflection all work together to create an image that captures what I felt at the time, on the wall with the day just beginning.
