Description:
Photographed from Sandymount Strand on a fine Autumn evening as the tide was creeping in.
I love the moon, and whenever possible I try to include it in my images. When it's full it obligingly rises opposite to and at the same time as the setting sun, which can make for some fine photographs. It's a few days from being full here, but that takes nothing away from the image.
Growing up by the bay, it's unusual to not see some sort of shipping on the horizon at any given time - like the Pigeon House, ships on the bay are part of what makes Dublin what it is. In this image, both sorts of shipping are represented - industrial in the form of the cargo ship and recreational in the form of the yacht at bottom left.
This particular image works best as a large print, as the fine detail in both vessels can't be appreciated as well in the smaller sizes.
