Description:
Otherwise known as 'The Gumdrop Tree' by my wife, this was made in the same location as the other Beara pictures in the Kerry section.
I love this image because we don't see this sort of colour in Irish trees very often. Most of our deciduous trees turn a rather dull shade of brown in the Autumn, but this one was a riot of colour.
It was a challenge to photograph, as there was a slight breeze blowing and the location was quite dark. In order to expose the image correctly I had to use a shutter speed of a few seconds, which meant waiting quite some time for the wind to die down.
In the end, I got the image I wanted. It's a nice reminder of how colourful the world can be, even on gray days!
