Description:
This photograph was made on a very chilly February afternoon somewhere to the west of Chicago. My wife and I went for a drive that afternoon looking for interesting subjects. It was cold enough that my fingers were getting numb from carrying the tripod around, even with gloves on.
This image was made a few hours after its companion, Winter Sky, Illinois, as the Sun was beginning to set. It is a stand of trees in the middle of a cornfield which has a thin covering of snow. The subtle tones in the clouds behind and the increasingly diagonal nature of them adds a touch of drama to an otherwise unassuming image.
Worth getting cold for, I reckon.
