Award Details:
* Honourable Mention, Prix de la Photographie Paris 2009
* Gold Crest from the Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) in 2008Description:
This image was made with a camera which has been modified to take photographs in the near-infrared. As such, this is a 'false-colour' image - the light which created it is not visible to the human eye, so the colours are imaginary.
It was made on a fine spring morning - I was driving home from a shoot elsewhere and noticed this stand of trees on a low rise. With a blue sky and high scattered cloud, I knew it would make a great infrared image.
The trees are bare, waiting for the first buds of Spring to appear.
