Description:
The Maumturks (also known as the Maamturks) are a horseshoe-shaped range of mountains that sit immediately to the east of the Twelve Bens in Galway. Here they are seen from the north, along the road through the Inagh Valley from the Kylemore Pass to Recess.
Binn Bhriocáin (also known as Letterbreckaun) can be seen clearly, while the other peaks of the range recede behind it, most of them cloaked by the low clouds.
This image was made just before sunset. The colour you see is a result of the stronly coloured sunlight filtering through the thin layer of scudding cloud passing through the valley.
