Description:
This image again shows how cloudy days are the photographer's friend. I had traveled deep into the Glenlosh valley that morning looking to photograph the Maamturks in the glow of the dawn. Cloudy skies prevented the Sun from making an appearance until well after it had risen, and I was leaving the valley feeling disappointed when I looked back and saw this scene.
I quickly set up the camera and was able to capture it before the spotlight on the golden field in the foreground moved away. If it wasn't for the clouds casting the rest of the foreground into shadow, the image would have been just another 'sunny day' photograph. The cloud shadows playing across the distant mountains also add interest, along with the patches of cloud receding into the distance.
