Description:
This view of the Maumturk ridge is from the east, looking over the Derreen ridge. It shows very well the spectacular patterns of light and shade that can frequently be seen in Connemara. Scudding puffy cumulous clouds move swiftly over the landscape, changing its character from moment to moment.
This is also my favourite view of the Maumturk ridge, showing its true character. The view from the west, from the Inagh Valley and the 12 Bens shows an orderly row of pyramids, whereas in the eastern view you can see the torturous nature of the ridge with its numerous corries.
